Random act of kindness...

a stranger was not able to walk and find his way, I helped him to standup and walk to taxi stand and get a cab...

We should do what our mind says

While I was walking on Serangoon road, near Centrium Square, I saw someone was trying to standup and walk.

He seems to be heavily drunk, he tried to standup again and felt down on face, 5-6 people were watching, I felt I should go and help him, again became skeptical and thought why should I help a drunk man!

Though I went closer to him saw there was little blood, I didn't think much I asked him are you ok? do you need help?

One more person came and we helped him standup, I hold his hand and asked how he came? how he want to go home? he told, I dont know how it happened! I just wanted to free my mind from all problems! just couple of beers and I am here, I didn't get my questions.

I was sure that, he can not go home by his own, I took initiative to help him, can not leave him in this situation now.

I told him, he need to walk, we'll go taxi stand and find a taxi. I hold his hand, and we went to F17 Taxi stand.

As it was Thaipusam, there was one way and no taxis were coming to taxi stand.

It has already been 10 minutes, I looked at this man, he said I am wasting your time, thank you for help.

I said lets wait for sometime.

The person seems to be good person, well dressed, but, he was broken.

I asked him why do you drink so much you can not walk, he said, "what should I do?, no one asks me why I drink! I am 63, it has been 27 years we were married, now we are separated." he continued, "Life is tough, it's like hit and run, you have no choice"

Without making any judgement I listened to him, he asked what is your name? I said, Vishnu.

He said, "so you're Hindu, my parents were Hindu, I converted to Christianity". Without making any judgement I listened to him, he spoke good things about Hinduism, and good things about Christianity. He told he has two boys, one is already married and have a kid as well, another one is not yet married, he is with his separated wife.

I became restless now, there was no sign taxi will come.

I asked him, if he has money, he said yes, asked for his mobile to book a cab, opened grab, booked standard taxi, as usual you dont get standard taxi on Grab easily. again, booked the next available tier which was 3 times more expensive than standard taxi, but there was no option.

I told him driver will come in 15min, dont talk too much before getting into the taxi, otherwise driver might not let you in. and Next time, order beer at home, have it and sleep peacefuly.

He hold my hand and said, "Thank you so much, so much! God bless you!"

I left thinking, come on until what age we have to face probelms in life, and told my self no problems no life, let's celebrate the probelms and their solutions ...
